Kage Mane (Shadow Imitation)

Description: Kage Mane no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu developed by the Nara clan. It's original purpose was as a skill to help delay any pursuers. After forming the needed hand seals, the clan member is able to manipulate their shadow along any surface. By using other nearby shadows they can further extend the reach of their shadow, however they are limited to the surface area of the original cast shadow. Once the clan members shadow reaches the target shadow, it will attach itself. While attached the target will be frozen, only able to replicate in mirror form the actions of the clan member. If the clan member is low on chakra, the Kage Mane will falter and the shadow will return to its normal form.
Special: The time a Nara clan member can bind someone with Kage Mane lengthens with a higher rank of the technique, and is halved against an opponent with a higher rank than the user.

The day was growing old, the sun giving way slowly in the west. It seemed to get more and more humid with each passing day and today was no exception. Shikamaru had remained indoors for most of the day, picking just now when the air had cooled down a bit to come out.

A deep sigh parted from Shikamaru's mouth and lungs. There he stood, in the middle of a small courtyard in one of the less inhabited parts of the city. The stones that made up the floor below him gave off shades of green and brown, the occasional vine making its was through the small crevices between the stones. Then there was the short stone wall that engulfed the courtyard, it was covered with many vines and flowers and stood barley three spans high.

It didn't take long for Shikamaru to create the necessary hand signs and bring forth the shadows of the Kage Mane. He didn't waste time, letting it weave around fallen leaves, twigs and the such. He split the shadow in two and brought it back together, testing what he could do at the moment.
