Summoning

Summoning. It's a technique known to some of the higher-class shinobi of the world. To summon, one requires the ninjutsu "Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Jutsu)", as well as having signed the contract of a specific animal. Contracts are blood pacts signed by the user with the animal kingdom of (usually) their choice. Each character can only have one blood contract signed at one time. To get a new animal's contract, you must post that you are leaving the contract of your previous animal type, and then sign the new contract.

E-Rank characters are unable to summon anything, because they do not possess enough chakra.

D-Rank characters are able to summon only the D-Rank messenger-type familiars of the contract family. These are usually the smallest members of the clan and are able to cross vast distances to relay information or find the enemy. It costs the same as a D-rank jutsu to summon one.

C-Rank characters are able to summon C-Rank Transport and Support-type creatures. They are sometimes big enough to ride, but they can aid minorly in battle. C Rank familiars can begin to use jutsu, but they can only use a few. They cost as much as a C-Rank Jutsu to summon.

B-Rank characters can begin to summon the major warriors of the contract clan. They are usually big, powerful, and fast. They can use a multitude of jutsu to aid their summoner in battle. They cost the same as a B-rank jutsu to summon.

A-Rank characters are able to summon the big, bad Bosses of the clan. They are the strongest and normally the largest in the clan. They can cause massive damage in battle, and their jutsu amounts probably match the user's, if not exceed. They use Area of Effect-type attacks usually because of their size. The summoning of a Boss costs the same as an A-rank jutsu.

The rank, size, and amount of jutsus a specific familiar has usually follows this guideline:

Familiar Rank / Size / Jutsu Amount
D / Tiny / None
C / Small-Medium / Small
B / Medium-Large / Many
A / Large-Massive / Numerous

As such, D- and C-Rank summons are not very useful for combat, but they may be used as comic relief or for roleplay / mission purposes, such as sending messages or traveling long distances.

Other Information:

The duration of time a summon can stay on the field before being forced to go back to their realm varies by rank of the summoned familiar and damage sustained.

D: Until they are dispelled or if they take any damage.
C: If they take a little damage, 3 turns, or until the user dispells them.
B: If they take heavy damage (multiple deep wounds), 6 turns, or if the user dispells them.
A: If they take a massive amount of damage, 8 turns, or when the user dispells them.

There can be upto 3 D-Rank, 2 C-Rank, 1 B-rank, OR 1 A-Rank summon per character on the field at once. The only combination between these is upto 2 D-Rank and 1 C-rank. You cannot have, for example, 1 A-Rank and 1 D-Rank on the field at a time.

If two characters have the same contract and fight, they will be unable to use Kuchiyose and actually summon something, unless one has betrayed their summon in some way, in which case, they will not be able to summon, and the other will. This is because the familiars of a contract will not fight each other.
