I would rather reveal myself than my situation;
Now and then I consider my hesitation...

The day began like any other day. Sunlight flooded through the window, aiming seemly directly at the face of Zephyr Uchiha. He turned in his sleep, facing away from the window now, to get more sleep. However, the light crept in more and more, and soon, his entire room was engulfed in the glory of the sun. Slowly, he awoke, and groaned. His body was sore, his mind was tired, and really did not want to get up. He had stayed up late the night before training his rear-end off, and now was paying for it. The scumbag that was the sun would not relent, and Zephyr regained full consciousness.

He squinted and slowly rose one of his hands to cover his eyes from the light shining around his room. With his other hand, he wiped the gound from his eyes and opened them wider as his eyes just adjusted to the light. Zeffy slid out of bed and lumbered over to his washroom. He took the time to take a long shower. He stretched in the shower, relaxing his muscles and giving them a warm massage-like feeling with the water raining down on top of him. After the shower, he exited his bathroom to find that there was a fresh set of clothes on his bed. He smiled while running his hand over the shirt, examining the stitches. There was even a mend in the shirt where he had torn off a piece the night before. Zephyr silently thanked his mother before putting on his clothes, not forgetting to tie his headband around his head. Zephyr ran downstairs for a quick breakfast, and quickly left his house...

When all the light shines through me, I pretend to close my eyes;
When all the darkness consumes me, I pretend I'm burning, burning bright...

Today, he was going to master it. He had had trouble concentrating lately, and his chakra control was to blame. He wasn't the best at controlling his chakra, even though he could still use many jutsus with his natural large amount of chakra, unique to the top-tier clans in Konoha. He was trying to learn how to climb trees with only his feet. This would help him on his way to better chakra control, he was sure of it. Zephyr had learned of the training from another Genin who was being taught it by his teacher, but wasn't having much success. He immediately thought of doing it himself, but with no instruction, he was nearly completely lost.

Zephyr stretched his legs a little, and then began a brisk jog towards the gate outside of the compound. This eventually turned into a run, and then a sprint. He was challenging himself to become faster, stronger, or better in some way every day. Today was all about stamina - distance running. His breathing was steady, inhaling and exhaling deeply but regularly, and his stance was good. He waved to a few people he knew on his way out.

His aim was the Training Grounds. They were a well-known part of the village where Leaf shinobi could train in public or private, for there were areas for both. It was filled with many practice logs and dummies, in accordance with a decree passed by the Third Hokage in hopes of training the lower-ranked shinobi better.

It wasn't too far from the Uchiha Compound, so it didn't take him long to reach his destination. Once he arrived, he jogged to his usual secluded training spot. He removed a kunai from his pocket, and spun it between his fingers. Zephyr looked up at his usual tree, and at the cuts on the tree. There were dozens upon dozens of them. The night before, and the night before that, he was hard at work trying to climb the tree, using his kunai to cut his mark when he lost his balance. He was not able to sustain himself standing on the tree. He could, however, make it up the tree with a running start.

Zephyr closed his eyes, and formed a ram handseal to better focus his chakra. He felt the pathways open slowly, and his chakra rush to his feet upon his mental direction. He opened them again and smiled.

Today, he would succeed. He didn't know how long it would take, but he just felt it within himself. Today was his day.

[Aiko Uchiha]

'THUD!' Her body hit the ground after a roll off her bed sent her towards the floor. Aiko's eyes popped open as she sat up and rubbed her arm that took most the pain. Her eyes blinked once or twice as they adjusted to the light then was shining in her room. Apparently her mother had came in while the girl was fast asleep and opened her curtains then window as Aiko felt the breeze hit her face again and again. Aiko rolling her blanket into a ball and tossing it onto her bed. After sitting for a few more minutes the door leading to her room seemed to crack open as a head peeked in. The first thing that Aiko saw was her mothers long hair and then a heavily smile as it was obvious her mother was smiling because of the scene she had heard and is just now seeing.

"Sweetie..are you okay??" Her mother commented as she opened the door wider and stood helping her daughter up. Aiko simply nodded not really being a morning person as her mom helped her up and dusted her off. She hadn't asked where her dad was since getting this uncanny feeling that he was off doing his training or on a mission. Dad was always gone almost rarely home or drilling her whenver he had the time. They had never really just had a Daughter dad moment, sure it bothered Aiko but what could she do? Her father wasn't exactly the feelings type while her mother was the complete opposite. Her mind tuned into her mother when hearing that she had made Aiko breakfast and laid her clothes out on the chair on the other side of her room. Aiko thanked her mother before shutting the door behind her and stretching. The next step of her daily routine was make her bed then shower. After stepping out the shower and getting dressed Aiko sat and brushed her hair deciding what to do with it next. Her mind was made up that today she could wear it up into a ponytail to look different today. Who knows..maybe she'd train with Zephyr today if they did run into eachother.

After slipping on her shoes Aiko came downstairs ate breakfast with her mother and stayed just a few minutes before telling her goodbye and grabbing her headband on the way out and tieing it around her waist. She was going to go ahead and make her way to Zephyr's house but decided against it. Even though she was going to help him learn his jutsu today there was no way she knew how'd his mom would act if a girl came over to see Zephyr besides at this time of the day Aiko was sure he'd be gone by now. Aiko decided to pick up the pace and look at the training grounds first. Since it was the closest place near the compound.

[Aiko Uchiha]

Aiko just couldn't get to the training grounds fast enough. Approaching the gate the young uchiha tightend up her ponytail just incase they were to spar. Being a little anxious about helping a friend was normal Aiko was guessing. The sun was shining onto the field and today was beautiful just like any other day in the village. Aiko was deciding if she could just approach him normally or practice her stealth and surprise him. Then again surprising Zephyr was something that she had never done so Aiko didn't know how he would react. Her mind was made up however as the leaves on the trees started dancing with every breeze that made its way inbetween the leaves and branches.

Making the ram handsign Aiko felt her pathways open and the flow of her chakra rush her feet. Smiling a bit the girl made her first step onto the nearest tree and made her way up the trunk with ease. Making her way up a decent length Aiko picked a branch and sat on it ever so gently just watching Zephyr do his best. He looked so determind and the tree he was using looked as it someone had a kunai cutting frenzy on it. Aiko knew full well that those marks were the marks that he kept stopping of falling at. His face looked so determind and Aiko couldn't help but giggle. She wasn't too far from the tree he was using so all he had to do was look up and to his right and see her bright smile and herself sitting there. Watching him for a few more minutes Aiko couldn't take it anymore she just had to help him master this, her friend had such big dreams and she wanted to help him get there by any means.

"Oh Zephyr! How are you doing so far?" Aiko giggled as she walked down the same way she came and gave him a hug before looking at the tree, "Still having trouble?"

Zephyr quickly rushed forward, his feet imbued with chakra. His pace did not slow one bit as he crossed the ninety-degree turn up the tree trunk. His chakra flow supporting him, he made his way up rapidly. However, his focus wavered for the slightest of moments, and his chakra spiked. A hole burst in the tree, and Zephyr, quickly realizing he had little time to do much else, sliced a mark an inch above where his last mark was, and leaped from the tree, spinning in the air and landing in a crouched position on the ground. He gritted his teeth and looked up at the tree. He had to try once more.

He formed a Ram handseal again and in only a moment he was already sprinting towards the tree, his chakra flowing evenly between feet. This time, he was mad. This was too much effort for what was an easy technique for everyone else, even non-Uchiha. He was doing his clan, and more importantly, himself wrong for not being able to do this. All shinobi were supposed to be able to do this. Why couldn't he?

Zephyr's sandals clapped against the tree trunk at a quickly-accelerated pace once he got up the incline. This time, he was practically sprinting, and managed to cover at least another two foot of ground above his last mark before his sandal splintered the trunk. He sliced a mark with his kunai and leapt from the tree again. He landed on his feet, but quickly fell to his knees.

Zephyr slammed his fists on the ground in frustration. Why was this so difficult? He knew he wasn't supposed to be running, but he had to be able to control it first before he could simply walk up the tree... He hadn't even gotten to the water walking part yet. How could he succeed if he couldn't even climb a tree?

A voice called to him from above - a familiar, feminine voice. Zephyr put on a weak smile and looked up at one of his few friends, Aiko Uchiha.

"Aiko?" He was confused as to why she was there. She descended the tree with little effort, practicing the same technique that he was - but she had obviously mastered it. He got off of his knees and stood up to accept the hug from his friend.

"Still? ... Yeah. I just can't seem to get it."

[Aiko Uchiha]

Aiko looked from him to the tree and noticed the large hole that was now a scaring on the trunk of it. Her index finger poked his chest as she began talking to him about him not being able to really get it. "You know you are only going to frustrate yourself when you rush? You are a Uchiha Zephyr, take it at the pace you are suppose to and you'll excel at it. I promise." Aiko stood beside him this time and smiled sweetly as the thought about how exactly to help him with this technique. Her mind couldn't help but flash back to her first time trying this. How many times did she actually attempt it was something the girl could not remember but as her mind continued thinking Aiko remember each and every time she fell on her back, side and bottom from either exerting too much Chakra or not enough. Then realizing what and where she was at and doing Aiko shook her head and looked at Zephyr.

"So, I can see where you have been exerting too much Charka..you pushed yourself off the tree..which was only once. The rest of the time you weren't using enough." Aiko looked at him once more, noticing the frustration and a bit of fatigue at the sametime. Her determind look had set in as she placed her hands on her hips and looked at the tree for the last time. "I want you to try it again, really focus, and take small baby steps. I guarantee you that you'll make it farther than you did last time. Concentrate Zephyr don't loose focus." Making the ram sign once more Aiko took a deep breath and decided to do it with him on the tree beside him. "I'll be right beside you."

[Zephyr Uchiha]

Zephyr listened to her lecture with intense focus. Anything that could help him was useful to him. She mentioned slowing his pace and focusing harder. Zephyr sighed, but in his head, he was thinking that she was totally right. By being frustrated and speeding along, he was getting better, not he wasn't getting it. He had to take it slow.

Zeffy smiled and nodded, then walked to his tree. He closed his eyes and inhaled slowly, focusing his chakra. He didn't bother with the handseal this time. The Uchiha Genin did the chakra control completely with his own will, without the spiritual focus of handsigns. After pushing his chakra slowly through is feet, making sure it was a maintained stream that was slightly more than what he did before, he slowly put one foot on the tree. He hesitated for a moment, and then lifted his other leg. To his astonishment, his one foot held him long enough for him to put his second foot on the tree.

He grinned and took another step up. He was climbing the tree with this feet! He took another step, and a few more steps after that. Zephyr looked over at Aiko and then grinned widely. "Hey, thanks," he said.

[Aiko Uchiha]

Aiko started walking up the tree and decided to wait for him watching him as she stood at a ninety degree angle. Holding her breath out of sheer anxiety and excitement for her friend she wished nothing more that for him to be able to do it right this time. Her eyes focused on her feet...one had made it on the tree. Good, he was almost there. Then seeing his foot stay in place as the other took its rightful spot next to the one already planted made her grin as wide as she could. Zephyr was finally getting the hang of it. Slowly but surely he was taking another step and another until he was right next to her and Aiko started walking at his pace.

"Don't thank me at all!"

When he looked over at her Aiko smiled back at him as a singe of excitement ran through her body. This caused her to accidently cause a spike in her chakra which pushed her off the tree. Her eyes widend out of pure shock as she began to fall from the tree.

[Zephyr Uchiha]

Zephyr watched Aiko climb up her tree alongside him. The moment was great.

"No, no, I insis-" he began today, but he was cut off by her suddenly falling. His reflexes quickly spun into action, his personality not letting anyone he knew, especially as close as Aiko was to him, be injured in any way. It was only a few feet to fall, nothing serious, but it didn't matter to him. He quickly burst off the tree with chakra from his feet, and glided through the short distance between them, catching Aiko mid-fall and sliding on the ground.

After the dust settled, Zephyr was practically sitting on the ground, grinning widely, with Aiko in his arms.

[Aiko Uchiha]

Aiko closed her eyes seeing as she figured it was a bit late to try and catch herself and waited to feel the impact of the ground. Instead Aiko had felt two arms and then a sliding sound against the ground before opening her eyes and seeing Zephyr with a huge grin plastered on his face. He was sitting on the ground and there she was in his arms and could not hold back a giggle since seeing his grin. Aiko stayed put until he decided to put her down but her smile was just as wide as his grin as she hugged him tight.

"Thanks Zephyr, you're awesome. Lets go get some lunch. My treat."

Zephyr's cheeks turned an ever so slight shade of red as she hugged him. He wasn't normally a hero, it was just how he was. He practically didn't even have to think about it. He let go of her, allowing her to raise on her own, and he stood as well. On the offer of lunch, Zephyr felt appalled.

"Sure! But, what kind of guy would I be if I didn't pay? Haha."

As Aiko looked up at him her eyes squinted a bit while looking at his cheeks. If the girl didn't know any better she'd say she was seeing a shade of red on his cheeks. However, Aiko said nothing about it and kept the smile on her face even as he let her down and she stood helping him up. When hearing him mention him paying for it Aiko couldn't help but giggle softly.

"The same guy you are now silly. I owe you one." With a smile she started walking towards the training grounds gate.

Zephyr grinned widely and turned away for a bit, hoping his face wasn't showing his embarrassment. He was stubborn, and decided to apply logic to the situation. He wouldn't be deterred.

"Technically, if you hadn't have helped me, you wouldn't have fallen," he stated. "So really, I owe you twice. So let me make up one of those by paying." He looked back at her and smiled.

"Actually if I hadn't got so excited that I helped you with the technique and spike my chakra I wouldnt have fallen. Plus I like helping you, you're fun to be around."

Aiko grinned at him as she pulled her hair bow out her hair letting it fall back down onto her back. Zephyr was stubborn so her mind was sure that he was going to include another logic point to get her to let him pay. It was a rather fun game to play with him, Zephyr would win most of the time but a few times Aiko had him on the ropes. She smiled at him sweetly once more as he looked back at her.

Zephyr laughed, and then responded, "Ah, but if you hadn't have helped me, you would not have been in the situation to fall." He too enjoyed the logic game, even when he lost.

"Also, it's an honor to be out with.." He stopped to choose his words carefully. He didn't want to put on the sense of it being a date or something a couple did, but at the same time, wished to flatter her while telling the truth. "A girl as pretty as you. A guy like me has such a rare chance of that happening."

Aiko opened her mouth to reply but closed it pouting a little bit before giggling, "You win this round, but the war is still up for grabs sir." She stuck her tongue out at him before looking at his face as he started talking again. Aiko couldn't help but wonder what the honor was he was talking about but when he had finished his sentence her face was staring straight ahead as a light shade of pink crossed her face at what Zephyr was saying. Her pretty? Serious? Aiko smiled and hung onto his arm as she started giggling a bit, then while a smile was on her face as well as the blush her face looked up at his.

"You're incredible, why wouldn't I want to be out with you? Besides if I am pretty then you are very..cute yourself. Another thing, I like you just the way you are. I wouldn't change a thing about you Zephyr, no more rare chances of it happening, because I'll always be by your side..no matter what."

Zephyr grinned when she finally relented to letting him pay. It was a small battle won, but as she pointed out, there would always be the war. He looked at Aiko, mainly her beautiful eyes, but then noticed her blushing after his comment about her beauty. Obviously, she didn't believe him, but what he said was perfectly honest. She nuzzled up to him, clutching his arm as they walked towards the village. She looked up at him and remarked that she was the lucky one. The situation was awkward at best, but it was still awesome for Zephyr. He would never normally have the courage to say something like before if they hadn't been friends.

"Really? That makes one of us, then."

And then she said it. I'll always be by your side... No matter what. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach. An unusual queasy feeling spread through him, but passed. Was this beyond just friend talk?

"T-thanks," he managed to stutter out. Suddenly, he didn't feel as confident as before. "A-and I'll never leave yours." He couldn't believe what he was saying - not that he wouldn't keep his word, but the fact that it just seemed to flow from his mouth! Like something had possessed him - his more romantic side, perhaps. He looked down at her face, which was now only just inches away, and just smiled. Birds flew overhead, but other than that, there was no disturbances anywhere nearby. His training area was kind of secluded, so he wasn't surprised that it was going to talk awhile to walk to anywhere with people around.

"Don't thank me Zephyr. Aiko still had the same cheesy smile on her face. It was hard for her to believe any of this was really happening at the moment. The way that they were talking now did not feel like it was friend zone kind of talk and honestly it made Aiko a bit scared seeing as she had never experienced something like this before. Her mind had also picked up on his speech change and tone, Zephyr seemed to become a little nervious and stuttering here and there with the words as they continued on with their conversation but her eyes seemed to shine with more happiness when hearing that he would never leave her side either. Aiko was beginning to feel a bit of a knot in her stomach but it wasnt a bad one. Rather a good one which made her giggle once more softly from this experience with Zephyr. He had the most calming face she had ever seen but for some reason it made her relax. She wouldn't mention that he was a very cute guy but at the sametime Aiko figured he already knew that even if he didn't want to exactly admit it. Zephyr was stubborn it was hard to make him admit to anything but Aiko wasn't complaining she liked that about him.

"Good, I am very happy to know we have that understanding with one another. I honestly wouldn't want it with anyone else and relax Zephyr, I'm still the same Aiko just being honest with you is all. Like you being honest with me." Her head then looked up at the birds that were flying ahead and held onto him a bit tighter just because, her smile softend when she looked back at him and noticed that he was smiling back at her. Today was going well in her mind, it couldn't possibly get better either.

Zephyr continued walking, Aiko on his arm. He listened deeply to what she said. This definitely wasn't talk between two friends, but that was all they were...

...Right? Zephyr internally was confused by his emotions and his feelings. He couldn't deny he felt something for her, but he didn't know if that was him as a guy or him as a person. He decided he would be mature about it and let things run its course, no matter what happened.

They soon approached a gathering of people, no longer alone on the path. It was only a short distance to the gate, and from there, a few fairly nice restaurants where they could have lunch. Luckily, Zephyr actually had his wallet on him, or else this would have been quite an awkward conversation. Also, he had no idea who the people were that he was passing. That would have saved weird conversations about "Is that your girlfriend?" or something or another if he saw something he knew or was friends with.

He looked back at Aiko and questioned, "Do you have a preference as to where you want to eat?" He wasn't feeling particularly decisive today, so he'd probably just pick something at random if it was his choice, so he asked her. Also, this was polite.

Aiko did not think too much about what was going on between her and Zephyr she was just going to let it play out how it was intended to. But at the sametime Aiko was very anxious to know what exactly was happening between them. Her mind was so focused on her and Zephyr being an item that she was oblivious to everything else around them.

But hearing other voices Aiko's snapped out of her thoughts once again and looked at the group of people who seemed to be doing their own little thing. Normally she would waved and keep it going but Aiko didn't want to disturb them with that they were doing. Being honest with herself for a quick moment Aiko realized that spending time with Zephyr was something that was at the top of the list this day. He was very polite, funny, calming, sweet...Aiko could go on and on but then she heard a familiar voice and that made her head turn up and looked at Zephyr.

"Hmm, so many decisions. You pick. You are always good at picking the place. I never dislike where you want to go, you always pick the best places."

Aiko held his arm tighter smiling more as they kept walking.

[Zephyr Uchiha]

Ordinarily, Zephyr would have gone straight to a higher class restaurant - however, today he felt something simple. Trusting in Aiko's trust of his decision-making, he strolled with Aiko towards a well-known ramen shop - Ichiraku's. He guided her to a chair at the bar and sat down in one next to it. He grinned as he saw the face of Teuchi Ichiraku.

"Well, if it ain't Zephyr and his lady. What'll it be today?" Zephyr shrugged and said, "Just miso pork ramen is fine with me. Aiko?" He turned to look at Aiko.

When arriving at the Ichiraku's Ramen Shop a smile was growing on her face. How'd he know that Aiko wanted something so simple she'd never know but then again that was Zephyr for her..always knowing where to go. Seeing Zephyr grin at Teuchi she couldn't help but smile a bit more until hearing what the man said. His lady? He had really just called Aiko Zephyr's lady.

With that light blush growing on her face Aiko looked at Zephyr still smiling sweetly, "The same for me please."

[Zephyr Uchiha]

Teuchi nodded, calling out to his daughter, "Two Miso Pork Ramens!" A cry of confirmation from the backroom of the shop erupted, and he walked off to deal with whatever she wanted, leaving the two alone. Oddly enough, the place was empty, even though this place was known by many as the best ramen shop in town. It should've been bustling. Zephyr paid it little mind, though. More alone time with Aiko was never a bad thing.

"So... What have you been up to lately, besides falling off trees?" he asked, laughing at his little joke at the end.

Aiko watched his leave before hearing Zephyr asked her how she had been and made his own little joke. Laughing a bit with him Aiko playfully pushed his arm a bit as her body turned to face his side. To be honest with herself she was trying to get that jutsu down but to her luck it wasn't going as well as she thought it'd go. Another thing was she was looking and constantly checking to see if the girl had finally had a squad.

"Actually, I have been trying to get this Jutsu down, I still haven't perfected it..which is very aggitating. Other than that I have been thinking about asking Sakura Haruno to take me as her student...so I can learn a technique from her. I'll come home probably bruised and sore but I have you to cheer me up right?" Aiko then snapped her fingers, "Tonight! You promised! You'd help me with the technique!! Pleaseeeee Zephyr??" Her face turned into a puppy sweet gaze, even her father found it hard to to turn away from this face. It got her way most of the time.
